Freeware Boundary Noise Reduction
The freeware version of Boundary Noise Reduction lets you remove noise from dSLR images and film scans. Many users comment that it's a big improvement over the noise reduction tool built into Photoshop. The filter comes bundled with Smooth Area Detector. Use this accessory filter with the suggested actions included in the downloadable Zip file. See the manual for Smooth Area Detector on the commercial side of this site for tips (the functions are exactly the same). Download: [ Mac ] [ Windows (32 and 64-bit) ] Installation instructions + manual *If you are using an older Windows computer with a processor that does not support SSE2 instructions, use this slower version without SSE2 instructions. Pentium 4, AMD64 processors and above will support SSE2. The normal version will crash on older processors. Compatibility
For Windows/PC, a processor that supports SSE2 instructions is required (the tint and white balance plugins do not have this requirement). An AMD64 or Pentium4 processor or higher will work. For older CPUs, use the slower version without SSE2 instructions. |
